My new book, A Search and Rescue Mystery, the first in a series of three due out in January 2014, is now officially entitled…
(drum roll, please)
…”Zero-Degree Murder.”
My publisher determined the original title, “Don’t Get Dead,” which, in Search and Rescue lingo, means ‘don’t get yourself killed trying to save somebody else,’ was too generic. They wanted something with more punch, that conjured up imagery about what the book is actually about (stranded in a blizzard in the mountains with a killer on the loose).
While I love “Don’t Get Dead” for a book title, I totally got their point. So I got to work, pulled a bunch of mountaineering books (and my Thesaurus!) off the book shelves and, in a couple of hours, came up with a list of six alternate titles out of which they chose “Zero Degree Murder.”
So next January, keep an eye out in bookstores for:

I do believe all the concepts you’ve offered to your post. They are very convincing and can definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for newbies. May you please lengthen them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
